A Bold Environment for Learning:
J.J. Pearce High School

Serving more than 3,000 students outside Dallas, J.J. Pearce High School needed a renovation that could unify decades of growth while supporting the next generation of learning. Glenn Partners answered the challenge with a transformation that prioritizes long-term durability and student engagement. Discover how a variety of Wilsonart® High Pressure Laminate (HPL) surfaces helped bring the vision to life.

Bold colors that energize
student experience

Wilsonart HPL introduces bold accents and warm woodgrains that reinforce school identity while creating inviting, engaging learning spaces.

Engineered for high-traffic education environments

Durable, easy-to-maintain Wilsonart HPL provides long-term performance across classrooms, commons, offices, and collaborative spaces.

Architect/Designer: Glenn Partners

Glenn Partners reorganized the campus around the Pearce Pathway, a dynamic two-story spine that improves circulation while putting the school's most active career and technical education programs on display. Enhanced daylight, expanded outdoor learning areas, and a reimagined student commons transform what had become a fragmented campus into a connected destination for learning.

Throughout the project, Wilsonart HPL provided the design flexibility needed to give each space its own identity while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic across the campus. Monticello Maple, a warm honey woodgrain with subtle straight graining, was selected for cabinetry and doors to extend natural warmth in shared spaces. Crisp Linen was used on office countertops to create bright, welcoming workspaces that complement the surrounding palette.

“We loved the woodgrain for cabinetry, tables, and doors. The surface has a texture that expresses the texture and touch of real wood.”

– GREG ESTES, SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT, GLENN PARTNERS

Colorful surfaces were an essential part of the final look. Rather than limiting laminate to horizontal work surfaces, the design team used Wilsonart HPL vertically to create moments of energy and school identity throughout the building. Estes says, “A partner like Wilsonart gave us access to thousands of colorful laminate options. It’s a truly unique selection that was perfect for this project.”

To celebrate J.J. Pearce High School's signature red and blue colors, Estes and his team selected the Lapis Blue and Hollyberry designs. Both feature a Matte finish and were applied to the vertical faces of collaboration counters.

These vibrant accents reinforce the school's Mustang spirit while helping collaborative spaces feel recognizable and connected to the campus community.

The strategic use of color introduces visual interest without overwhelming the architecture. The bright red and blue tones are grounded by an earthy Charcoal design on the vertical faces of banquette seating. All of the colors come together to create a spirited modern palette that defines many student spaces.

“At a large high school, branding and colors really matter. Wilsonart gives us the option to create school spirit through colorful material selections.”

– GREG ESTES, SENIOR PROJECT ARCHITECT, GLENN PARTNERS

In any K–12 environment, aesthetic material selections must withstand years of daily wear without compromising the design vision. Wilsonart HPL offers the durability and cleanability required for thousands of students moving through the building each day — all while giving architects and designers an expansive palette of colors, woodgrains, and finishes to support their creative direction.

Estes says, “Especially for collaboration spaces at a school, Wilsonart HPL makes sense because it’s durable, withstands tremendous impact, and is very easily cleanable.”

At J.J. Pearce High School, high-performance surfaces are transforming an aging campus into a cohesive, future-ready learning environment. Because with the right minds and materials, any educational environment can feel welcoming, connected, energized, and timeless.
